About Us

What is Montessori?

Montessori is a child-focused educational methodology grounded in scientific observations of children from birth through to adulthood. Founded on the principles of Dr. Maria Montessori, this approach prioritises the individual’s holistic development — physical, social, emotional, and cognitive. Montessori education is defined by self-initiated activity, practical learning, and cooperative play, encouraging exploration, independence, and an enduring love for lifelong learning. In Montessori settings, children are granted the autonomy to make creative choices in their learning journey, whilst the classroom and teacher facilitate this with age-appropriate activities.

Explorers 0-2.5 years

In the Montessori approach for children from birth to 2.5 years, we create a safe, engaging environment that nurtures their emerging independence and curiosity. This stage focuses on supporting their sensorial exploration and motor development, utilising tactile, auditory, and visual stimuli. Activities are designed to enhance fine and gross motor skills, whilst also fostering cognitive and language development. Each child is encouraged to explore at their own pace, reflecting Dr. Montessori’s belief in following the child and their natural drive towards growth and discovery.

Voyagers 2.5-3 years

Within the Montessori framework for children aged 2.5 to 3 years, we cultivate an environment that encourages self-expression and deepens their sense of independence. This phase builds on their sensorial experiences, with added emphasis on language development, early mathematical concepts, and refining motor skills. Practical life activities, like care of self and environment, become integral in fostering responsibility and confidence. Through hands-on, child-led explorations, we nurture their innate curiosity and support their social-emotional growth, embodying Dr. Montessori’s belief in respect for the child and their unique developmental timeline.

Inventors 3-5 years

For children aged 3 to 5 years, the Montessori approach broadens the foundational skills previously gained, fostering enhanced independence, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. The enriched environment introduces children to a wider variety of activities, encompassing advanced language tasks, intricate mathematical concepts, and initial scientific exploration. Practical life skills and social interaction are heightened, encouraging grace, courtesy, and an awareness of community. Child-led exploration continues, empowering them to select and immerse themselves in their areas of interest, thereby promoting a deeper understanding and passion for learning. This reflects Dr. Montessori’s philosophy of respecting each child’s individual pace of development and unique interests.
